She’s got an okay voice. That’s literally her only good point. But I’m not going to argue with an apologist. I got shit to do.

Back in… 2008, a friend of mine was verrrrrrry into MSI. They had a huge crush on jimmy, knew nothing about chantal. They found out about chantal and the pending engagement and got very upset. Mind you, this person at the time was 15 years old and extremely mentally ill and unstable. They sent a message to chantal via Myspace, nothing nasty, nothing vicious. If I’m not mistaken, it was just something along the lines of “I don’t like you”. chantal became extremely condescending and the whole thing blew up. chantal would publicly attack this person, making up lies about them, very middle-school drama for someone in their mid- to late-twenties. It got to the point where even jimmy began attacking this kid. A kid. They were almost banned from a concert for the lies chantal and jimmy made up, and evidently chantal gave them the worst shit stare in history at a concert. She just stared at this kid for like, an hour.
Fast forward about a year and a half. The kid is now older and more stable, and they decide they don’t want this drama anymore. They send chantal and jimmy a long message apologizing, saying they want this silliness over, that everyone should move on. They even sent their artwork to chantal.
chantal claret is not the kind of person to move on.
The song “Bite Your Tongue” was written about this person. They found out in the worst way. When they were into the song “Pop Pop Bang Bang” from the Pleasure Seeker, they listened to the whole album. The lyric “Forget you know my name and I’ll forget you exist” stuck out. It was from a very lengthy, disgusting message from chantal they had received on Myspace. The lines “I got your number” also allude to this, as chantal apparently saved this person’s home phone number (there was a morningwood call-in thing where the person publicly called out chantal for being so nasty, and did get nasty back, but I’m not going to defend behavior that was repented for and I’m not going to split hairs).
So, four or five years after the fact, chantal wrote a song and did an interview where she attacked my friend (who is much older and more mature and has their shit settled), and continues to sing that song on tour to this day. That isn’t alright.
Also noteworthy: She’s admitted to joking about child pr*stitutes/CSA in public, supports a band who constantly uses slurs that are not theirs to reclaim and encourages suicide/joke about pedophilia. She’s also taken a role in the devil’s carnival, a terrible franchise that’s problematic in it’s own way, and evidently her character and jimmy’s beat a woman who, in the first film, was already the center of a very violent display of misogyny. Not to mention, the costume is based slightly on nazi memerobilia - as someone who is the descendant of a Holocaust survivor (if I remember correctly), that’s pretty fucking low.
